To Use Insurance Benefits or Not?
You may choose to use your insurance benefits if you have mental health services as part of the U.S. Behavioral Health Plan, California (USBHPC), through PacifiCare Behavioral Health, or Blue Shield members managed by USBHPC. Some clients may choose not to use their mental health insurance benefits, thus maintaining confidentiality. If you do not belong to these insurance groups, therapeutic sessions can be made using the price scale outlined under Appointment Information.
If you do choose to use insurance, the privacy relationship extends from a relationship between only you and your therapist to include the insurance company who determines the number of sessions depending on the diagnosis and progress reports.
With or without insurance, we will develop a therapeutic plan addressing the highest priority concerns first. When insurance is not used clients have their own flexibility in choosing the number or sessions that will accomplish the goals set. Some clients may be satisfied by 2-3 sessions. Some clients choose a short term program of 8-12 sessions. If you discover that you have several more areas to explore, arrangements can be made to continue to work meet these goals. We can also accommodate breaks between sessions. Ultimately, progress and number of sessions will be determined by the complexity of your concerns.
